Having been an expert witness for several years, I realize that the expert witness plays a critical role in the judicial process. The expert witness testimony, if correctly completed, can swing juries, educate attorneys and judges on complex topics and win cases.

I have found that there is a constant demand for the fire service expert witness. The ideal expert witness will have an advances degree in his/her file. However, having a long and distinguished career often can outweigh the degrees. In my case having degrees and being a former fire chief and having served as training officer, fire marshal, fire prevention inspector, battalion commander, captain and fire engineer has been extremely helpful.
